Today and tomorrow KF& Co is one of the largest independent RIA firms
It is our intention to remain independent and grow the firm in a prudent way that benefits our clients and their descendents.
1927 Several distinguished partners come together on Wall Street to establish a merchant-banking firm known as Wertheim & Co. Joseph Klingenstein, a founder of the firm, helps the partnership benefit from his astute investment and business acumen.
1956 Joseph Klingenstein’s son, Frederick A. Klingenstein, joins Wertheim & Co., where he establishes a broader range of financial services that leads the firm’s emphasis to investment banking, asset management and institutional trading. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1972 to 1986.
1970 Kenneth H. Fields joins Wertheim & Co, where he later serves as head of the Individual Capital Management department. From 1986 to 1989, he is a director of Wertheim Asset Management Services, as well as a managing director of Wertheim Schroder & Co.
1986 Fred Klingenstein guides the sale of the family’s interests in Wertheim & Co. to Schroders plc. He serves as Co- Chairman of Wertheim Schroder & Co. until 1989.
1989 Fred Klingenstein invites Kenneth Fields, the head of the Individual Capital Management Department of our predecessor firm, to join him in founding Klingenstein, Fields & Co. They are accompanied by the same professionals that had been together as an investment team since 1970.
1989-present KF&Co. adds 10 Members and senior managers and grows assets under management to approximately $4 billion. |
